Answers to common questions about TrimWyze, URL shortening, QR code generation, custom aliases, and link sharing.

What is TrimWyze?

TrimWyze is a free online URL shortener and QR code generator that helps you convert long web links into shorter, cleaner, and easier-to-share URLs. It also allows you to generate QR codes for quick access from mobile devices.

Why should I shorten a URL?

Long URLs can be difficult to share in emails, messages, presentations, social media posts, printed materials, and QR codes. A shortened URL is cleaner, easier to remember, and more convenient to share.

How do I shorten a URL?

Simply enter one or more valid URLs into the input area and click the Shorten URL button. TrimWyze will generate shortened links that you can copy, save, or share immediately.

How do I share a shortened URL?

Once TrimWyze generates a shortened URL, you can share it just like any other web link.

You can:

Because shortened URLs are cleaner and easier to read, they are often more convenient to share than long web addresses.

How many URLs can I shorten at once?

TrimWyze currently supports shortening up to five URLs at a time, making it convenient for users who need to process multiple links quickly.

What is the Alias or Custom Name field?

The Alias field allows you to create a custom short link instead of using a randomly generated code.

For example:

Instead of:
https://trimwyze.com/abc123

You can create:
https://trimwyze.com/myevent

This makes links easier to remember, share, and recognize.

What happens if I do not choose a custom alias?

If you do not provide a custom alias, TrimWyze automatically generates a unique short code for your URL.

For example:

Instead of:
https://example.com/very-long-url

TrimWyze may generate:
https://trimwyze.com/a1

or a similar automatically generated code.

This is the quickest option and works well for most users who simply want a short, shareable link without creating a custom name.

When should I use a custom alias?

Custom aliases are useful for:

Choose a short, meaningful name that reflects the purpose of the link.

What happens if my chosen alias is already taken?

Each alias must be unique. If the alias already exists, TrimWyze will ask you to choose a different name.

Can I generate only a QR code without creating a shortened URL?

No.

TrimWyze always creates a shortened URL first and then generates a QR code for that shortened link.

This approach keeps QR codes cleaner, smaller, and easier to scan while also making links more manageable and shareable.

If you generate a QR code using TrimWyze, a corresponding shortened URL will always be created automatically.

Why does TrimWyze create a shortened URL before generating a QR code?

QR codes work best with shorter links.

Using a shortened URL results in:

This is why TrimWyze first creates a shortened URL and then generates the QR code from that shortened link.

What does the QR Code icon do?

The QR Code icon generates a QR code for the shortened URL. Anyone can scan the QR code using a smartphone camera to open the link instantly.

QR codes are useful for:

What does the Open Link icon do?

The Open Link icon opens the shortened URL in a new browser tab, allowing you to quickly verify that the destination is correct.

What does the Save/Copy icon do?

The Save/Copy icon copies the shortened URL to your clipboard so that you can easily paste it into emails, messages, documents, websites, or social media posts.

What does the Clear button do?

The Clear button removes all entered URLs and generated results from the screen, allowing you to start a new batch quickly.
